these fees should be discontinued. At the time I did so Lor

Knutsford's s Despatch No. 46 of 1892 had not been brought to

my notice, but I think the inclusive grant will be the most

convenient system to adopt now. I would at the same time re-

commend that clergymen of other denominations should be paid

a fee of $10 for each burial service which they may be asked

by the Goverment to conduct on account of deceased destitutes.

The Sterling value of the dollar is now less than half what

it was when the burial fee of $5 was originally fixed.
